OK... feeling really stupid right about now. I should have tried this sooner, too.

There is an Air Show this weekend in Columbus, Ohio. I have been programming the digital MARCS systems so long, I don't remember how to simply add the (known) frequencies for the Blue Angles and Rickenbacker Air Base. I go back to crystal controlled scanners and many generations that followed, but all the documentation for the SDS100 is geared to digital systems.

To make it as simple as possible, I removed all data from the SDS100... like brand new. I made a new Favorite List and thought I did everything correctly, like turning on Aircraft Service Type and assigning a Quick Key, but everything I try results in "Nothing to Scan" message.

What am I doing wrong - or better yet - what do I need to do right?

See the following for tips with Nothing to Scan

Things to check include - sounds like you have checked some of these, but doesn’t hurt to check again.
  • Has favorite list been successfully transferred to scanner and enabled to monitor?
  • Is location set?
  • Are quick keys enabled if programmed?
  • Proper service types set?
if you created the favorite list by hand, the service type may be set to the default which is Custom 1. Make sure that service type is enabled.

If you created the new FL from scratch, you may Edit the Profile and confirm that the FL has the Monitor and Download set to ON.

Sometimes creating a new FL will set these to Off by default. (Its happened to me several times.)

If "new FL from scratch"....
If lat/long were not programmed (0.0000/0.0000) and location control is on, it thinks the FL is somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean and it will never scan it - and you certain;y would get the "noting to scan" error..

Go to the main database in Sentinel,
Click on any county, whether your state or any other.
Open the Nationwide folder.
There, you'll see a category labeled Air Shows.
If you expand the Airshows system, you will see Departments already set up for the Blue Angels, the Thunderbirds, and others.

Those have have locations set up, as rectangles, with coordinates that cover basically the entire continental U.S.
So, you could still use location control on these. Note that the Service type for the Blues is set as "Military", not aircraft. That applies to the Thunderbirds as well.

For any additional frequencies that you add manually, either manually enter the location details, or do not set that specific Favorites list to use Location Control.

If you manually added any items the service type will be Custom1 and not aircraft. Might check that.
