Deputies say Beach resident stole oxycodone in drug store robbery

Neighbors of former professional wrestler Travis Tomko describe him as a nice guy who kept to himself and signed autographs for children who lived near him on E Street in St. Augustine Beach.

They were surprised when they learned that Tomko was arrested Monday, charged with robbery of oxycodone from a St. Augustine drug store.

“I feel bad for him,” said Jennifer Clarke, a neighbor, who said Tomko gave her son an autograph. “I hope he gets the help he needs.”

Tomko, 38, spent more than 10 years in the ring as “Tyson Tomko” for WWE and TNA and became an enforcer and tag partner.

Deputies found Tomko later Monday afternoon in a Chili’s restaurant bathroom, where deputies said he had needle marks and blood on his arms, according to a St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office report. He asked for a spoon from a waitress before disappearing into the bathroom for about 40 minutes.

On Wednesday he was being held in the St. Johns County jail in lieu of $7,500 bail. His home address is listed as St. Augustine Beach.

About 5 p.m. Monday, a pharmacist at the CVS drug store at 175 State Road 312 said a man later identified as Tomko went into the store and demanded all the 15 mg and 30 mg oxycodone in the safe. At the same time, Tomko held his hand under his shirt as if he was pointing something, the pharmacist told detectives.
