Fort Collins police are investigating a shooting that injured a 31-year-old Fort Collins man just before midnight Sunday in an alley behind Avogadro’s Number in the 600 block of Mason Street.
Police spokesman Al Brown said Jason Kyler O’Donnell, told police two white men in their mid-20s fought with him, took his wallet and shot him in the hand during the scuffle. The suspects were last seen running northbound down the alley, Brown said in a news release.
O’Donnell is being treated at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins.
Mark Patterson, who lives nearby, said he heard the gunshot, came out of his house and saw “two guys working the victim over,” punching and kicking him. “I started running and yelling at the guys that were doing this,” Patterson told The Coloradoan today. The men ran away, Patterson said.
Patterson said the victim had a bullet wound to his hand and was bleeding from the head.
The suspects were wearing blue jeans and gray T-shirts, according to police. One man was wearing a black baseball cap.
Police are asking for residents help in identifying the suspects.
