I have been tring to load a Bearcat BC796D with the trunking freqs but have not been able to get it loaded corectly. It keeps getting hung on one freq and says that it is a data channel. Any one that knows about the FLW system or how to load the scanner properly let me know please. I can be contacted at adam.whitford@cablemo.net

I'm not familiar with the BCD796d

My BCD396t tracks the system just fine.
And for my Pro96 I needed to put in the frequency table

-Base Frequency: 403 MHz
-Offset: 0
-Step: 12.5 kHz

You may want to check if the 796d needs that also.
Before I put that in my 96 it wouldn't track.

Still looking for help

I have tried the Uniden forum and this one and still can't seem to get my scanner to work properly. The Ft. Leonard wood system has 3 sites and when I load them my scanner still gets locked on one freq saying that it is a data channel. I haven't found a way to prevent it from sticking on that one channel. I hope that there is someone out there that can help me with this problem. Everything looks like it is loaded right except that I cannot enter the base freq of 403, I get an error. The scanner looks like it is tring to track on ID SEARCH and ID SCAN, but will not leave the data channel. I have been tring to load the system as a MOT/APCO Type 25 UHF, is this the right trunk type? Someone please help.

If the 796D is like the 396T, then you can only have one tower per system. In other words, you will have to put each set of control channels in their seperate systems, and just put all the talk groups (if you have them) in to each system. Then scan them like each was a completely seperate trunked system. It's a limitation of the Uniden scanners. The PRO-96 and 2096 can have multiplle control channels (towers) in a bank, but there are still issues with them skipping the other active CCs unless you put conventional frequencies between them. Sorry if that last part was too much info...

I have been loading the different sites into their own banks, but regardless of which site I try to listen to the scanner still locks on the control channel as though it is a voice channel. fmon and I spent over 2 hours yesterday tring to figure out the system by changing the base freq in steps of 12.5k and it still locks on that on freq and will not scan or even allow me to hear any conversations. If there is any one in the area that has the FLW system loaded in 796D or similar scanner please let me know.

I know that there is another

I went to the movies in Waynesville and saw another HAM that had the radio shack scanner antenna on the top of his vehicle. The FLW sticker had a Blue strip at the bottom so I know that he is an officer. I have to hunt him down and see what he is using. I just hope that he doesn't think that I'm sone kind of security theat. HEHE.

Are you programming the frequencies as conventional or trunked? That could be the problem.
(Been there, done that, so I'm not ragging on you.)
Go to Progam System>/select New System>MOT>Motorloa Type (P-25/UHF band>System Name, Options, Frequencies, etc.
That should help.
Happy Scanning

bpckty1,
I have tried both ways, I have loaded them as trunked P-25 UHF and conventional. I'm able to hear converstations in conventional but no TG ID's. In trunked I can't hear anything and the scanner is locked on the CC. I don't think that my scanner is recognizing the CC and thinks that it is a voice channel. I know that the scanner will track trucked systems because back in Louisiana I was able to hear the Rapides Parish Communication System, but that was a 800MHz system.
