Fort Polk, This system was moved from Fort Chaffee, Arkansas after that base was closed.

Fort Chaffee was near Fort Smith. Chaffee was a sub-installation of Fort Sill, OK.

The equipment at Fort Polk was installed by Knight Communications, according to infor found on the Internet.

Frequencies: 406-420 Mhz

Fort Polk

The frequencies for Fort Polk are listed on p.372 in the 2004 edition of Police Call. As of right now they are all active and it is a EDACS system.

Type: EDACS

Now we all know how to program in the standard Motorola 3.6kbps UHF Digital in use at most military bases.. my question is this:
Do you program in an EDACS UHF the same way?

And most importantly: Is this an EDACS Regular, AEGIS, or PROVOICE?????

When the system was at Fort Chaffee, it was Motorola Type II ASTRO SmartZone. It was moved from Fort Chaffee, Arkansas shortly before the base closed. The frequencies for Fort Chaffee's TRS were never confirmed. Fort Chaffee was a sub-installation (part of) Fort Sill, Ok. Alot of the administrative, support, control and command functions came from Fort Sill.

Fort Polk had an Ericsson EDACS 39 channels system several years ago. The system is suppose to have 3-4 sites on Fort Polk. The sites are suppose to give radio coverage for the entire base.

hello there ,

i just wanted to know thats how i programed fort polk in my 250 but on the 250 you have three edacs and the one i used was edac st.and i can pick them up fine.but what i want to know i tryedthe narrow edac heard nothing is it the right one ,as in edacs system to listen to them.
thank you if you can help me in this matter....

Many things were going on yesterday when i was programming them in to the radio.....

On the 250, you do have three choices for EDACS set up. They are WIDE, NARROW, and SCT. I could not tell from the above quote what you choose. But if you choose SCT you probably have it wrong.

SCT is a special type of one (1) channel EDACS site used out where there is very little activity but it is needed to extend a EDACS system out in the boonies and it isn't cost effective to have multiple repeaters at the site. It normally carries CC information, but the CC goes away and it becomes a voice frequency when needed.

NARROW is a type of EDACS (normally used on 900 MHz systems) where the CC is broadcast at 4800 baud and the frequencies are narrowband FM.

WIDE is the normal EDACS found in most systems, uses standard FM and the CC is broadcast at 9600 baud.
