Ois there coast guard or anything in fort walton that is good to listen to ? I am staying at fort walton Beach from Dec 24 to Jan 1st thank you.

There is plenty of stuff to listen to depending on what you like to monitor. I would not expect much from the various USAF/USN military air operations side over the holiday (but you never know!)

there have been some changes to the local police/fire comms over the last year or so, but at least some of this (Fire) was monitorable when I was there

I'm sure at least a few of the standard CG net freqs are active:

USCG NET 111

USCG Net 111 (Sectors Key West/Panama City)

Not sure if any of the AFB is open in walton sites.

thank you for the response. I am taking my home patrol 2 with me this way it will scann anything. looks like the weather may not be the best, will see. I am also bring my gmr radio there is a repeater in town to use. thank very much. thomas
