• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

They keep getting smaller every time. Soon, we'll be driving those Wal-Mart Security Carts to save gas money.

That looks pretty good. Seems interesting to see alot of police depts going to the black & white paint scheme.
Any Dodge Chargers down that way?

The Chevy's are not the front line units - they are for the school officers, supervisors and such... I hear Chargers might be the direction they decide to pursue (no pun intended).

I hope they do go with the Chargers - they are really awsome!

It's a Homeland Security thing. For "interoperability" purposes, they'd like all local police departments to be black and white, and will buy departments the cars. So many departments are opting in to get a new fleet free of charge.

Thanks PortCop.

I posed that question to a friend not long ago, we both wondered if it had anything to do with federal money.

"I like the paint scheme, but that is one ugly car."
