FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Fort Worth Municipal Court has ordered a roundup of residents who have outstanding warrants for their arrests.

The roundup will begin Saturday morning. About 50 city marshals and some police officers will fan out across the city to arrest people with outstanding warrants on class C misdemeanor charges. People who have unpaid citations face arrest and an appearance before a municipal judge.

"We’ll open two courtrooms (Saturday)," Fort Worth City Marshal Jesse Hernandez said. "We'll go out, and the folks who we find, we'll bring them to court and let them see a judge. In most cases their issue will be worked out with the judge. There is a risk, in some cases, that some people may wind up going to jail, though."

The city extended an amnesty period for people with class C misdemeanor warrants. Those individuals have until 10 p.m. Friday to pay fines.
