I haven't logged on for awhile and am noticing a new look to the forums. Why was the General Discussion forum removed? Was the information in that forum moved elsewhere and if so where?

It is still there. Look further down the page, just under the New User Forum.

Sorry, should have asked in my response...who arbitrarily decides when a post is considered closed / not open for further discussion? Why and/or when would that be decided?

The new forum software seems to automatically lock threads after several months or a year or so. Supposedly if you need to add something important to an old post you can "report" the thread and ask to have it unlocked.

Old Threads are locked after 6 months. It's a manually initiated batch process.
