I just upgraded from a PRO39 to a Pro69 so to say the least im still learning about trunked systems.Today I was changeing some codes and found a major Glitch in the program. Was wondering if anyone knows of a site where i can download a patch or something to fix it or am I going to have to bring it back to radio shack.
The problem is my scanner should only scan from
25MHz - 54MHz Not from 17MHz - 174MHz
108MHz - 136.MHz Not from 216MHz - 550MHz
137MHz - 174MHz Not from 764Mhz - 823MHz
216MHz - 225MHz Not from 849MHz - 868MHz
406Mhz - 512MHz Not from 894MHz -1300MHz
806MHz - 960MHz --------------------------------------
1240MHz -1300MHz --------------------------------------

I know what caused the glitch dont ask I wont tell ANYONE what it is unless your the writer or owner of the copyright. Its probably what that kids selling on ebay.
Is there any FCC rules saying I cannot listen to these Frequencies
I was Quite shocked when the unit went into the 300MHz freq and the 700MHz Freq then 1000MHz-1200MHz.
Like I was saying Does anyone know If theres a patch for my dilema.
Im quite sure im not supposed to listen to certain frequencies just dont know what they are.Yet I wish not to get into any trouble.
I just got my new scanner and dont want radioshack to kidnap it for 3 weeks while they troubleshoot it.
Perhaps the owner of Win96 would be interested in giveing me this program free for finding this bug or perhaps a 5% finders fee

Your message was REALLY hard to follow, but it sounds like you have the ENTENDED FREQUENCIES box checked in Win96 and DL'ed that file to your scanner. Or, maybe you DLed a file with it checked.

In any case, as is so often said and not true, it is true this time - that is a FEATURE, not a bug! It's only via Win96 you can enable that.

No finders fee for finding features - especially when they are doccumented.

As for what you cannot listen to, you can't listen to 824-849 MHz, 869-894 MHz (those ranges are locked out in ROM, and CANNOT be opened up by the extended frequencies option), ANY STLs (usually in the mid 900 MHz range), any commercial paging transmissions (usually lower 454 MHz, 929 MHz, or a few 152/158 MHz frequencies), or base frequencies of cordless phones (upper 46 MHz area, some on lower 900 MHz, Etc).

I guess its not a bug after all sorry about that.It is the extended frequency thing. I just got back from their site and it explains it all. Added an “extended frequencies” option, which seems to enable some sort of hidden test mode that allows all frequencies except cellular. Frequencies can be sent from Win96, or can be entered directly on the scanner’s keypad (including in SR6 – Limit Search).
Addendum: Some ranges still appear to be "blocked" by the scanner. Here are the ranges that seem to be "opened" with this feature:
17 - 25
54 - 108
225 - 406
512 - 550
764 - 806
960 - 1240

These are good if...
... you like listening to HAM's or foreign languages
... TV audio for Ch's 2 to 6
225 - 406
... Mil-Air Band if your Pro-96 will actually hear anything
512 - 550
...TV audio for Ch's 21 to 26
764 - 806
...TV audio for Ch's 63 to 69
960 - 1240
... your search feature should fly through this
range rather quickly.

In all, nothing exciting except Mil-Air .

And in all but the MilAir and the 17-25 MHz range, they are WFM, so you won't receive anything there that is pleasant ot listen to anyway.

Still, it IS useful for Mil-Air. The sensitivity isn't the greatest, but it does work.

It's on another post I read somewhere in these forums.
Now that link is to a "scam artist". That grifter is selling a file that he made up using Win95 or Win93 that you don't need since you need Win95 or 93 to implement his fake "hack". As Bug's says, "What a maroon!"

He must be good at it - his feedback is still 100%. But then, I imagine many people would be reluctant to leave a neg after finding out that they got duped so badly. Win95 or Win93 is FREE on the author's web site (those are the programs with the ability to open up the extended ranges), and the files are readily available and easily made - ALL FOR FREE.

DON'T pay for something you can legally get/make for free at http://www.starrsoft.com :!:
