Can anyone confirm activity in Sarasota County on the Florida Power & Light new P25-Phase II System? I have entered all of the frequencies as listed in the database for the Sarasota, Venice and Myakka City Sites but, hear no activity at all.

Might be setting up the system still? FP&L and Gulf Power merged with NextEra Energy I'm waiting for my area to be upgraded to the new 800 stuff. I believe 9xxmhz will go to the new 800 system down the road.

Thanks.... these freqs are the same as I was using for the Sarasota site. I did a 24 hour ID search on the Sarasota, Venice and Myakka City Sites and was able to get a handful of hits from 5 different IDs off of the Venice site: 801, 802, 903, 1001 and 1211. I guess I am surprised of how little traffic there is on this system. That which I did receive was crystal clear, however.

After some more ID searching and listening, it seems as though Talkgroup IDs 801 & 802 cover the Sarasota Manatee area. I heard a couple comms that referenced, Cortez, Palmetto and Nokomis.

how can these be programmed into an SDS100? i tried making a favorites list but that didn't work. i'm use to a basic scanner that you could just enter these as conventional freq's into a bank without any talk groups or trunking type.
i don't have any problem making favorite lists using sentinel for other trunk systems.

You should be using Uniden's Sentinel software to do this. Open Sentinel and click on the USA database ---> Click Florida ---> Click on Statewide ---> Right Click on Florida Power & Light (P25) and select "Append to Favorites List". This will add the system to your list of Favorites. Make sure to SAVE the revised Profile when done.

The only thing that I don't like about this approach is you download allot of tower information that is not pertinent to this area.
Well... This approach was intended to be a simple solution to a problem for someone who did not know how to create a favorites list for FPL. Once that is accomplished, he can trim it down anyway he wants. I personally have TWO favorite lists for FPL... one is for the statewide system and the other is only my local towers. To each his own. His programming life would be infinitely simpler with a Premium membership combined with Butel software for the SDS series.

Is FPL for Sarasota County in the clear. All I see are talk groups 1240 and 1250 with encryption.
Thanks Ed

They operate in the clear but you must be using a Phase II capable scanner. After monitoring them for the past couple months , there is not as much chatter as you would imagine in comparison to public safety radio.

Yes I know they are phase 2 and I am using WS1095. I am also using control channel 935.400 but I use to get them in the clear. Maybe I need to change antennas.

Try entering all frequencies for Venice, Sarasota & Myakka Towers and see if that help (I don't know if the control channel routinely changes). I heard them this morning on the Venice tower on Talkgroups #s 801, 802 and 907.

This is what I am using w/ Beldon 9913 cable. Having said that, If you are receiving a decent signal off any of those (3) towers, I would not think it is an antenna problem. I get decent signals in North Port on a handheld too.

I have tried 4 different radios that are all Phase 2 and only receive 1240 on screen once in a while. I will enter Venice, and Myakka along with Sarasota and continue to use the wild card. I get my" T" and five solid bars without any trouble. May be I should enter some of the talk groups.

That will do it. I just put in ALL talkgroups and see what comes off of those 3 towers. Occasional they make reference to an address or landmark that lets you figure out if they are really local or not. As I have said before, I did an ID search for all 3 towers over a 24 hour period and was surprised at how little they key up. The busiest TGs for this area seem to be:
801
802
903
907
1001
1211
