• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi All. I have an FR4000-3 repeater and can't seem to read it. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but here's step by step. BTW, I just received a Bluemax49ers OPC-I592 cable for this project. To put repeater in program mode, Prog+Ani+Ch DN, wait for single beep, release the buttons then press program one time and I hear two beeps.
I have tried multiple computer, last being a Win XP 32 bit machine. The Icom software is ver 1.4. The FTDI driver is correctly set to Com1 and so is the software. The RJ45 end of the cable is connected to the Mic jack

I press the read clone and after a couple of seconds I hear some beeps and an error message appears to check the RS-232 and so on.
Can anyone help?.

I only use real serial cables for that. I dont believe they sold any USB stuff when this radio was sold.
I just tried with a serial db9 cable I found in the shop marked ICOM. Not sure if it's pinned the correct way. On the RJ45 pins 2 & 7 are used, what about on the db9 side ?. Additionally, do you have to press any buttons to put the repeater in clone mode?. I
'm using software ver 1.4 and I'm beginning to suspect this is not the right version for this unit. Any help is appreciated.

Do not press any buttons when using the CPS. Just plug in the cable and read it. What you're getting into is by pressing those combo of buttons is front panel user set mode. This may or may not be screwing things up when you try to read it in that mode.
