Excellent catch. As I understand it, LW is slowly dying out in Europe in favor of FM stations, so catch them while you can. Their days are numbered

The first couple weeks of January I was getting get that station real good here in Richmond, Virginia, and also 171 kHz which is in Morocco or Algeria, or somewhere like that. But here the 3rd week of January its been waning somewhat. Usually I get these overseas LWBC stations best during a 'window' of 0100-0400 UTC. By around midnight they're pretty much gone.

If you mean that you get these Euro LW stations in the middle of winter at 0100-ish then it's gray line propagation. DX Atlas is your friend!
