Franklin County appears to be moving forward with a $2.9 million plan to join the state 800MHz system. They plan to add fire new trunking sites (Ottawa, Wellsville, Appanoose, Tennessee Terrace and Williamsburg). The Ottawa site will have 6 repeaters, the Wellsville site will have 4 and the others will each have 3.

I find it interesting that they are evidently being told by that there will be no problem finding 19 repeater pairs for this system, and yet we were told simulcast was our only option because there weren't enough frequencies available. I didn't believe it then, don't believe it now, but I also won't say that our simulcast system has not been the better choice for us coverage wise. Yes, as a scanner listener it stinks, but for the radio users, it's a blessing.

I was surprised it wasn't simulcast too. I specifically asked and they said it wasn't and would be 5 separate sites with 5 separate control channels. Apparently going simulcast adds quite a bit of cost due to timing requirements. I'm glad it's not.

In looking at the BOCC packet they got a good price and it looks like they are going to have pretty good coverage.

I never believed that they were accurate in saying there was not other repeater pairs available.

Hum interesting....

3986716 licence ID nets these frequencies. Appears to be an newer approved grant from the FCC.

None of which are in RR DB for KSICS.

Only one from the list above is on a same frequency as Franklin. Regardless, quite a ways away from Franklin County.
