Franklin Township (Somerset) New Repeater

Looks as if District 3 in Franklin (Somerset) wants a new conventional repeater to supplement the Digital TRS.

The location is on the Harrison Towers large 15 story apartment building. It should talk well from there. Nice site.

The freq is 472.925.

Narrowband analog, I see - should work great, as long as they use a DPL (which they are known to like to do).

District 1 w/ New Application

The District 3 proposal was objected to by Bergen County. Not sure of its status.

I now see District 1 has a new application for a new freq at different site 471.275.

District 2 was looking into something along those lines as well; they may not have made it to license application just yet. Rumors I heard a while back included multicast of their talkgroup and of their pages (done on their end, not county's end).

District 2 is already simulcasting on the 154.145 frequency (no PL).

I can see why district 1 wants a UHF channel like that, as they are probably going soon to UHF pagers & want the conventional channel as a way to simulcast D1-OPS from the trunk system so responding firefighters can flip-over to channel 2 on their pagers & monitor what apparatus have already left the house.

There are numerous departments doing that now, and a few more soon in Morris County as RocketNJ has mentioned.

Sorry, UHF for District 2; I assumed the three VHF multicasts were a given. Though some of the UHF talk I heard was before they put up the VHF-Hi multicast so perhaps they changed plans.

I also see one of the Districts simulcasting TRS on this.

On a side note what is the legality (FCC rules) on this now
widespread practice?

It seems to me to be spectrum inefficient and there is no way that
there is a chance of anyone montioring before transmitting.

I wonder if co-channels could file a complaint? Comments?
