Frederick and Fort Detrick

Hi All,

Two things...the first is I have the Ft Detrick freq's from the DB here programed into my scanner for about two weeks now, but I have only once heard a xmit and it was a maintainance crew...Anyone else getting anything regular?

The second is I heard "Park Ranger One" using the fred co freq 859.4875 to talk the the sheriff dispatcher about a couple cars he locked up in one of the lots in Gambril Park. I had never heard anyone use that channel as a conv freq before...so I thought I would pass that along.

I wonder if the Ft Detrick users have moved onto the 380 Mhz DoD LMR system; this is a system that's sweeping all the mil bases around the country. It's Astro P25 3600 baud and encrypted, which means you won't be able to receive them in the clear...however...folks with PRO96s or 2096s can use a utility called PRO96Com to read the control channel (and control other scanners as well, much like Trunker) and find out who's using the system.

From the May 2005 MT (and there may be more freqs in the RRDB by now), the freqs reported are;

380.0750 (per Gary Mitchelson, tentatively Ft Detrick)
385.7000
385.7750
387.3375
387.6750

Actually it is P25 but it is not Astro. Astro is a Motorola tradename, the DOD 380 system is a MACom system.

It seems that the plug has been pulled on Ft. Detrick's 400 MHz trunked system. All the 400 frequencies are quiet and all the talk is on the 380 MHz system.

Just to clear up any confusion; I just learned that the freqs that were in the May MT I quoted in an earlier message are not correct and badly attributed. Use the RRDB frequencies instead.

Looks like MT is printing bogus info again. All you have to do is look at the WACN of the Control Channels that list these freqs and see that they are from several different systems.

The RR is by far a better place to get good info than MT.
