I’ve been noticing a lot of garbled transmissions on the trunking system. Fire/Sheriff/MSP have had multiple issues with their radios while being on the scene of various incidents in multiple places. I myself being in fire/ems have experienced this while using a radio and it “clunking out” on me. As I sit right now with a unit portable it’s garbling a lot. Has anyone else seen or heard of any changes ?

Sounds like an issue at a subsite - is it limited to a certain area of the county?

I did a ride along Saturday evening/morning. There’s only 3 troopers on shift during the night in Frederick County. He and I covered the entire county while monitoring county sheriff and city police. Issues all around even when we did our traffic stops (clunking out) then released to talk. They are still using the Fredrick system for MSP ops. I sent you a pic

If there are issues throughout the county, then it's not a single subsite. Perhaps there's some tropospheric ducting at play? Not very coastal though in Frederick.

Doesn’t have to be coastal to have tropospheric ducting! They have several high sites that will catch tropo.

Had a reported house fire a little bit ago that didn’t amount to anything but had units trying to go on the scene (even though we have MDT’s) and they had to repeat numerous times on who they were and what they said. It was a lot of R2D2. Still nothing officially from the county as to any issue.

Frederick was granted limited primary user for up to 6 talkgroups on FiRST in December 2020. Would be interesting to know if their radios have these talkgroups in place? It seems that these would be good to switchover during incidents when they are having issues.

I haven’t had or heard of any issues, what are you listening with?

I haven’t had any issues with my 8000s or G5 and they are pretty much all the time.
