I am looking for scanner recomendations to handle frederick county's trunked digital system. I was looking at the pro-2052. Will this scanner handle things?

Well, if you are looking to hear Frederick City PD, you are out of luck, no scanner on the market gets that. The pro-2052 should be ok, but, I'm not sure if it will work with the new system at Fort Detrick.

Also will this scanner cover washington county maryland as my local fire/ems(Brunswick) are first due to parts of washington county via mutual aid agreements

These FM conventional freqs listed in Washington County should serve your needs for Mutual Aid. Of course, the scanner has plenty of room, you may want to program all Fire/EMS freqs in both counties as well as the Fredrick Trunked system.

I am actually looking to program all frederick county EMS dispatch and EMs incidents..loudon county, va EMS dispatch and Incidents and Washington county, maryland dispatch and incidents. Of course i am wanting to pick up the mutual aid calls as Brunswick is mutal aid to loudon county and first due/mutual aid for Washington county, maryland. We also have mutual aid coming to us with a county in pa(i forget which one).

I use the Radio Shack Pro-97 (handheld) to monitor Frederick County and use the Win97 software from Don Starr to program it. I am very happy with it, albeit, I got it at the 149.99 price. I plan on getting one, if not two of the 2051 base counter parts when they go back on sale.

I have the 2052, and though it does having trunking capabilities, it doesn't really scan trunk and conventional at the same time. I use mine soley for its milair capabilities.

If all you want to listen to is Frederick County, the PRO-94 will suit your purposes just fine. It's what I use. My suggestion at this point is a '94, and something that does conventional as well. I will tell you this, tho; Brunswick is in a large 'hole' as far as coverage goes, if you are living in town, your reception will not be what you are hoping for as far as Washington County TAC channels. My PRO 94 picked up rather well most of the time in Brunswick, tho. Unless you really, really, HAVE to hear Loudon Co, (and you can still hear the dispatch on 46.380) I wouldn't go digital quite yet. BTW, when Co's 5 & 19 go out to Washington County, the patch works off of our trunk system, when it doesn't, Frederick will link using 46.440. Same thing for Loudon.

It's been a while but i finally have some cash. What are the recommendations for scanners for Frederick county? The pro-94 was the last recommendation but i don't see that available anymore.

I have a Pro 97 and it works very well for Frederick County. You will receive all the fire/ems ops channels. You will also get the sheriff's office channels (most of them).

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, try getting a Pro 95 on Ebay. That's what I used to monitor Frederick County before I got the Pro 97.

Also, it should be noted that the Pro 97 only uses 4 AA batteries and the battery life is insanely long. I invested in some Ni-cad batteries and an adapter and they have served me well.
