A user put this into our wiki
===========================
Beginning 02/21/2012 the Frederick County, MD 800MHz trunked radio system fixed network equipment will be retuned to implement the FCC's rebanding order.
Changes will begin 02/21/2012 at 1200hrs EST and continue during business hours until all frequencies have been changed. Completion of retuning for all frequencies is anticipated by 5pm on 02/22/2012.
Control and voice frequency change:
860.4875 changes to 856.1375
Voice frequency changes:
866.6125 changes to 851.6125
866.9125 changes to 851.9125
868.4875 changes to 853.4750
868.7500 changes to 853.7500
===========================

As is usual, all the freqs go down 15 mhz. The database entry is here;

Frederick County Trunking System, Frederick County, Maryland - Scanner Frequencies

If someone can validate these changes, please use the submit link to get the database changed. It's listing both pre-rebanded and post-rebanded frequencies.

As this is an analog system, and not every freq has a 5 in the fourth position, you will need to use a custom table to follow this system. There is a good explanation of this in our rebanding article, section 7

Rebanding - The RadioReference Wiki

I will have this wiki article cleaned up

best regards..Mike

Looks like the database was updated. I'm trying to figure out the custom table that I need to do for the rebanding. I have a Pro-197 and I'm using ARC500. Anyone one able to give me the values that I need to plug into the custom table? I've noticed that all of the sudden my scanner appears to be stopping on various channels as if something is being said, but I hear nothing. But some times I do hear something. Does that mean I have a hosed control channel? Is that why I need to do the custom table?

Thanks!

Out of Luck

I guess because I have a BC245xlt, it appears I am out of luck with this rebanding. According to the Wiki, this change makes my scanner useless. I get some voice (sounds like Sheriff) but lots of noise and data. Sigh.
I also noticed the on-line feed is quiet.

It appears no one told the DBAs to set the rebanding flag in the database. Therefore none of the scanner software will work properly.

Read section 7.2 of the wiki article I gave earlier; the object oriented scanner software article has a section devoted to rebanding. You can do this manually - the instructions are there.

I just submitted a change ticket to the Frederick county trunk to have the rebanding flag turned on. Until it is done, you will need to apply the rebanding changes manually. Fortunately the links given in section 7 of the rebanding article tells you most of what you need to know.

Those folks with scanners like the Home Patrol and PSR-800 will need to wait until the next available database feed; hopefully by that time, the flag will be properly set.

The rebanding flag has been set. You should now be able to use the web service to set the custom tables up without further manual futzing...Mike

The Frederick County Fire and Rescue / Sheriff and MSP Live Audio will be reprogramed today. Rumor-has-it that the digital switch over may start in June. Keep your ears open and be ready. Its only going to cost me about $1000 to keep the feed up when that happens! can't wait! (not)

What to buy

So with Frederick County going digital, what would be the recommended scanner to replace my now defunt but well loved BC245xlt?

Any idea if my pro-197 will still work after the digital switch over? Or am I hosed too?

If they're simply going to an all-P25 system, your 197 will work fine - it will simply need a bit of reprogramming...best regards..Mike

Yes, but there's an issue here - once the system goes fully P25 the 164 won't be able to decode the digital signal...you will need a digital trunktracker for that

For instructions on rebanding, see the rebanding wiki as mentioned previously in this thread

Does this actually do some special programming (other than the new frequencies) in the PSR800? I'd like to do it manually since the database doesn't update for the 800 until Saturday -- where do I learn of the special changes?

Dunno, Troy. I had always assumed - and we all know what that means - that during the weekly download, the software looks for the rebanded flag and takes the appropriate action automatically.

I don't know of any way to set this up manually, but it would, I suspect, definitely be worthy of documenting. If it's not in the EZ-Scan manual, it might be a good time to post on the GRE forum and/or write GRE and ask them. I understand they're pretty responsive

Found this at : Yahoo! Groups

For anyone that wants to get a headstart on this,
below are the tables to use for both Uniden and
GRE manufactured radios. If you put in all the
entries (along with the rebanded -15 MHz
frequencies) when the switch is made it will be
seamless and you will never know.

GRE tables

ChLO ChHI Step Offset Base
440 559 25.000 440 851.025000
000 719 25.000 0 851.012500
720 759 25.000 0 848.000000
815 831 25.000 0 846.625000
958 958 25.000 958 868.975000
961 1022 25.000 0 843.400000

Uniden tables

Lower Freg Upper Freq Step Offset
851.02500 854.00000 25KHz 440
851.01250 868.98750 25Khx 0
866.00000 866.97500 25KHz 720
867.00000 867.40000 25KHz 815
868.97500 868.97500 25KHz 958
867.42500 867.97500 25Khz 961

If you want to do all this post-rebanding you only
need the first two entries for each respective
manufacturer. Some software packages will set the
tables for you automatically, some will set all
entries and some will set the post only entries.

This is very well documented in our wiki in the appropriate places, but it doesn't answer a more critical question - using the various programs for the PC driven scanners (ARC-Patrol, Sentinel, EZ-Scan, iScan) how do you put the changes in for a rebanded system manually without having to wait for the weekly download? Can you force getting a refreshed database without waiting for the regular refresh cycle?

This sounds like a question for our software forum, frankly...Mike
