fast food

I ran across a list on the monitoring times web page. If you cannot find it, let me know and I will try and send you a link.

Haha, I can remember MANY years ago, in my younger days, I would pull up McD's on the scanner while I sat in the parking lot eating a McChicken. Customers would routinely harass the drive through people: "Gimme a baloney on rye," "Burger King is out of Whoppers, can you make me one instead," along with other various things that aren't fit to type on here.

Ah, those were the days.

Finding Fast Food Frequencies

Why do things the hard way? Go to the source. Using a map with latitude and longitude write down the approximate values of the fast food restaurant you wish to monitor. Do a search on the FCC database on county. You cannot search by city. With few exceptions fast food licensees tend to be licensed in the name of the franchise owner and not the name of the restaurant. For example, McDonald's located on 4th St. 4th Street may or may not be listed but the lat/lon for the restaurant on 4th Street will be listed. Check each licensee listing for the closest lat/lon values. Then enter the frequencies m in a scanner and park in the lot and listen until one or more are active. New licensees tend to have 10 or more frequencies they can use. Most frequencies licensed are not used.

You must ensure you have ided the correct fast Food restaurant user based on lat/lon because you may be in an area where there are other fast food restaurants using other close or same frequency range frequencies. To try and guess who is who by just listening to a frequency is not a reliable or efficient method for more than one fast food operation located within a mile or two of each other.

fast food from experience.....

I went looking for fast food in the James City Co VA area......if you start with the FCC data base, it will drive you crazy...since many of the low power freq are not licensed........or licensed in other states......

how I found most of them....on my BC 296D there is a seach function of special.....low power misc freq...

so you drive to the parking lot between the order screen and the pickout window and hit the scan button.....

90% were found this way........the only excepting the ones on 900 mhz.....

you can also set up a scan between 904 and 926 mhz...if you wish I can send you what I have in James City Co.....as a start....

If you know how to use the FCC database it will not "drive you crazy". I have no problem using it. My definition of "many" includes more than the few vhf MURS frequencies and some 900 mhz. frequencies.

I prefer a disciplined method. I maintain an Excel frequency database that documents frequency(ies), I/O relationships, callsign, user, city, county, call, latitude, longitude, pl and channel. The database currently contains approximately 100,000 records for the state of Virginia. For such an on site search effort I want to be as much informed before hand as to licensed frequencies which to search with a global frequency range search as an alternative.
