• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Good thing I chose to wait this one out. Hopefully Unication will do the right thing and issue refunds to those who paid for upgrades. You guys have every right to be ticked off!

Early birds always pay more than those who wait, it’s always this way with technology. You can pay more and get in early or wait and see if it gets cheaper. I would rather pay a little more and get it when I want it

Folks I don’t see the big deal. It’s not like they forced you to upgrade back then. That was the deal and I also went for it. I can still upgrade the G4 here and glad it will be for free this time around.

I don’t like writing negative comments but mines a slightly different case. I happened to just buy my G4 P2 at 100 dollars more then a non-P2 G4 about 2 weeks ago. The website/place (I won’t mention their name here so as not to unintentionally discredit the business) I bought it from lists the G4 non-P2 100 dollars lower than a G4 with P2 already in it. That’s my issue; I could have got the G4 non-P2 100 dollars cheaper and then got this “free G4 P2 update” tomorrow. It’s the principle of the matter. I find it difficult to believe a dealer didn’t know this was coming or was in the works to be released soon. But who knows.

Wishful thinking

A refund would be nice, but I don’t see that happening. I had to ship my g5 in for the first upgrade, and they updated it at unication then sent back to me. I paid shipping there, they covered the return. It looks like they figured out a way to do it remotely now, so even though it’s still a phase II upgrade, the method is different and I’d assume the cost was associated with the onsite update? What’s funny it, about a month after updating my g5, I went to purchase the update for a friend, and it wasn’t there anymore. There was an email address and when i did I got reply that they had issues online and sent a form saying send it in they would update for free. Anyway, it’s not the first time a company charged for early release features then later gave them standard. Enjoyed my Phase II for several months and would probably pay for upgrade again.

That’s not right. Phase 2 been free on new units for months. Check out Unication’s own website under promotions says it. That dealer should refund you, I’d pitch a fit personally!

I happen to know the store you are referring to and they are the only dealer that hasnt been selling p2 units at the 565 price. In other words they mark everything up to pay for that banner at the top right of the screen! I bought mine few weeks ago from cmdcomm for 535 p2 unit off ebay!

Rub it in....rub it in lol.

Yes, I unfortunately realized that after i had already jumped in and ordered it literally on the day I left for vacation so it would be here when I got back. Hindsight; I now know what their doing and semi-regret the impulse buy! I found cmdcomm on eBay AFTER I got back from vacation and this unit had already arrived. I didn’t expect this free upgrade surprise to P2 to occur so at the time I was fine with the no return policy because these are awesome radios. But now regret the buy at 100 dollars more for something everyone else got for a more honest price.

I hate to be THAT guy, but what time are we looking at this being released? It's nearly 12:30 here and I don't see it on the website.

Early shift problems...

Very glad I held off on the Phase II upgrade. I seriously considered sending mine in and paying the price for the upgrade. VERY nice Unication decided to release it this way now.

I’ve sent an email to them with my findings and concerns to see what they say. Maybe something good will come from their response.

I hope this will improve some of the drop out issues we have, and it sounds like it will fix another problem.

Wow, one person at 0030 hrs, CDT another at 0800 hours EDT.....Unication is located in Arlington Texas, which means they are on CDT. They are a business and I don't believe they are a 24 hour operation, which most likely means their day starts at 0900 or possibly 0800 CDT. The people pointing out that the firmware hasn't been released yet haven't even given the company a chance to open their doors. It's almost as bad as the people who are already saying the Whistler TRX-100 and 200 are vaporware because they have a Q4 release date, which they expect to mean October first at 00:00:01 at the International Date Line. If it isn't up by midnight, there's an issue, anytime prior to that, no. I don't know why companies announce releases prior to the actual release anymore, all they get is grief.

It’s been a while since school, but last time I checked, the day actually starts after midnight. I also find it out that one of their “dealers” came on here posting the release and updates and there was nothing on the Unication site, Facebook page or David posting here.
