free scan on windows 8

When I try to connect my scanner to my new laptop it says free scan cannot detect any com ports. Has anybody else tried to use free scan on windows 8? the computer sees the usb to serial adaptor, but free scan does not. Thanks

In Freescan go to the scanner tab in the file menu and then control scanner and make sure the com port is the same as what is showing in Win8 device manager
and also make sure the speed is the same and it should work.

I Will Try This But The Problem Is When I Open Free Scan It Does Not Show Any Com Ports To Choose From.
Sorry For The Caps I Dont Know Why My Phone Does That. lol

FWIW. I know that Windows 8 HAS NO compatible drivers For the RS/GRE cables ( FTDI Chips) but t don't know about the Uniden cables.

I use the RadioShack USB cable just fine with my Windows 8.

Is there an error on the FTDI website where they list that their drivers are for Windows 8?
