This site has a great little logging program for the 246 as well as the 396. (Caught the link off another post here at RR...)

Best of all, the price is perfect... FREE! :D

Tried it out tonight with my 246 and it works pretty darn well. No more staring at the scanner trying to catch trunk IDs or PL tones. Woo-hoo!

Was looking for pros/cons regarding this software. I just hooked it up to my 246T, to check the display and some functions, also to try the log feature. This software is GREAT! I hope to use it specifically when the rain ceases around here (will it ever?), and to try logging DX hits with it. Hats off to the creators of this fine software!

I run it on a regular basis... I just came back from a 12-day vacation where I had the 396 version running almost non-stop on a laptop monitoring a bunch of systems in that town. There are a few minor bugs in the logging procedures, and I would prefer better control over the audio recording capabilities, but it wins hands-down overall.

(The bugs I refer to, if Brian is watching this thread, include - log entries in a logfile staying stamped with the date that the logfile was created, even if midnight rolls over (any number of times) - and occasionally the wrong freq/alpha data being logged as filename for an audio file.)

The one thing I wish it would do is run on Windows ME. Thats whats on my laptop and I like using that for my radios when I surfing on my desktop.

When I found this software I found it to be what I've always wanted for scanner logging. No more messing around with a tape recorder. No more using RecAll and guessing what freq you are hearing. And best of all it records freqs, TGs, and tones.

I really wish there were a few more options for logging though. When I go through my logged audio files, I always sort them into folders for each freq or trunked system. So it would be really cool if it had an option for sorting by freq, freq&tone, system, or system&TG into different folders.

It is awesome software and I hope the owner does add a little more functionality to it, even if he makes it shareware, cause I'd be willing to pay for a few more options.
