I trust my ad blocker way more than I trust an ad server.

As you should. Admiral, the company providing the anti ad blocker service here, is what I would consider a bad actor. They abused a DMCA takedown request to force a popular ad blocker developer to remove a url from their list of blocked domains. Read about it here:

I don't think @KOK5CY was implying that. I interpreted his comment as referring to this incident where RadioReference exposed 25% of its users to a personal information leak due to mis-handling a query, not wanting to purchase a subscription because of this.

The biggest threat to your personal information is your own government. Ever filled out an SF-86? If so the Chinese got that long ago. So they got my email and name and a rando password from here for me. Big ******* deal. You can get more than that from a paid OSINT search.

better value to you

So I did something on purpose, I threw some numbers out there, also a little about PRIVACY... And as expected you swallowed that numbers sh*t whole... You did not let my knowledge about people fail me, let me tell you what!!! But the thing that really bothers me (no, it is not the money generated that was questioned, and I am NOT against capitalism!) is that it always turns out to be "ME! ME! ME!" with very little regard towards your fellow American(s) - just the ole bottom line...

PRIVACY WAS and IS my my main concern and you AGAIN proved your worthlessness concerning PRIVACY by not commenting on that, not one bit in the least...

Value? How about MORAL VALUES? Does that mean anything to you? Do you even know what that term means? If you say yes then I call you a LIAR simply because the way you have portrayed yourself!!!

In part it SHOULD mean that you are concerned about what information is collected and used that will ultimately harm the user(s) in the end? As I see with what you have written it does not appear that you care and that it all boils down to "money" and "value the site offers"... By the way... the value this site offers was never a point as I am part of that "value" with my hum fix among some other things that has provided "value" to the members...

Sorry dude but you lost the argument by focusing on money.... along with just about everyone else... Tells you where MORAL VALUES stands in society these days, doesn't it?

Tricky situation you got yourself into isn't it? With a bit of "help" from me to expose it...

Now I expect you to babble on about the ads and how I am so wrong and that the ads don't collect, sell and utilize the data in immoral ways bla bla bla.... BS!!!

Well Lindsay, you have yourself a wonderful life... I will take you up on your offer and move on simply because I don't like you or your "values" anymore... Now, doesn't that make you feel much better about yourself??? Yeah, I have to admit it also goes out to most of the "Americans" here too... Sad really! To know not very many people really care (or even know what it is) about MORAL VALUES anymore...

As I said once before, that is what is called a "fallacy of false privation" - stating the existence of a similar problem on a larger scale doesn't invalidate the original argument.

You can deactivate your account yourself from the main page. Click on your name and I believe it's under account settings. But I would wait a couple of days to cool off and see if you change your mind.

It does if the larger problem duplicates the issues caused by the smaller one so it's a net zero.

I would like to see this site have a 30 Day free trial then you have to pay the value is worth it and if you do not like it do not let the door hit you where the good Lord split you. If you can afford $600 Scanners you can afford $30 a year membership fee.
I had to save my coins to buy 2 different scanners but still won't buy a year member ship .

I was just going by what he posted...

Which wouldn't have mattered if you were premium or not.
Actually it would have . it doesn't take much for a hacker to get past all the info on your device to find your Bank info . That's why I don't store my bank info on my device . You can have the highest security and still get hacked . like for example I've deleted all my old FB info and still get a notice that someone has tried logging in my old account . so don't assume it'll never happen . Just takes 1 time and your bank $$ is gone .

I guess I'm a complete idiot as I still don't see how NOT being premium can prevent someone from hacking your account. But this is getting way off-topic, so I'm done.

As stated above $30 a year for the info I receive is $30 well spent the world is not free and Santa Claus does not give away everything to everybody.
"...Whaddaya mean, there's not a Santa Claus? I suppose the next thing your going to tell me that there is no Easter Bunny, Columbus, Cleveland or Cincinnati....and Toledo?....I, I, still haven't made my mind up yet about Toledo!" (Stan Freeburg, "Yuelnet", Capitol Records)

Value of the site to me:

Here’s an example of a basic experience in trying to find information (value) for some thing I’m working on.

1.) I actually try to research my issue using the archives (Literally thousands of possible connections to what I am researching), using the search feature, and get many, many things that contain some of the words I’m searching for but never really ever find anything that matches the question I am asking for would like.

2.) I either start a new thread, or ask a question in a thread that might cover the subject I’m looking four, and pose a question and receive a condescending reply by some of the regulars “well, have you looked into the archives first before coming here?“

3.) having survived the chastisement above, I post my question at which point I receive reply from some old codger who wants to school me on the basics of electronics or radio or whatever particular subject they want to bloviate on, but never really answering my question directly.

4.) another bloviating old codger (obviously the arch nemesis of the previous one), charges in and tries to one-up

The first one, and now they both whip it out in a big dick swinging Contest, where yet even a third old codger enters the fray in the flame wars have begun!

5.) At this point perhaps, someone will take pity on the “OP”, and try and reign in the other two or three who are now at virtual war with each other and try to get them to answer my question… Which never really gets answer anyways, so I give up in frustration!

Sound like basically an experience you might be having?

Well, that’s not the kind of “VALUE“ I’m willing to pay for!

Sure I may happen across something of value here eventually here and there but generally, it certainly is not worth $30 a year to pay for the literal psychological clothes-ringer an innocent “OP“ will suffer for just trying to obtain some value from the RR Website.

(Flame Suit is now on!)

You pretty much summed up every internet forum I've ever been to. And summed it up very accurately.

You only left out the part where someone gets their feelings hurt and wants their account erased.
