I am using Freescan .8 in preparation for a 396XT and I'm having a few issues.

When I import from RR using the "CC only" default option, I get the voice only channels as well. The CC only box is checked in the site setup window.

When I imported the info from my 396T, the trunk frequencies were dropped. I assumed that this was due to the difference in the T and XT. Then I tried a workaround by importing a system and sites from RR, then copying the sites and pasting them in the systems from 396 that were devoid of trunk frequencies. That is when I noticed the above problem.

All of these sites/groups are from the San Diego RCS system.

Scanner Frequencies: San Diego, County of (RCS - Public Safety) Trunking System, Various, California

Assaf just released .8a...and I see that the system you are trying to program is multi site. The 396 doesn't support multisite, the XT does. Perhaps that is making a difference? Likely as not you would need to import one system at a time with the 396. 73 Mike

DDan,

CC Only mode means that control channel only mode is used, all channels still get downloaded. .8A should fix the problem with the trunk frequencies not present on download. Hope that helps.

Thanks Assaf, that is a new record for support. .8A did indeed fix the download issue.

I have never seen CC only function that way before and my download from the scanner only contains the CC freqs. ???

Many thanks for your work on Freescan. I would not have bought a 396XT at this point in time if it weren't for your hard work.

I am still having issues with the file I downloaded from my 396T. I can't figure out how to assign a quick key to the trunked systems. The system QKs that were used on 396T are dropped on the download. When I select the system in the browser there is no drop down box for assigning a QK. What am I missing?

This tends to confuse people so please bear with me. Quick keys are set on the site level on the 996 which Freescan was designed around. Since the the 396T doesn't support sites, a site is created for you when you download. So click on the site, and that is where you set your QK and trunk frequencies etc.

If no sites appear when you download, then you have to redownload the .msi file and reinstall. Hope that helps.

I have sites and can assign QKs to them. No problem with that. I was looking at the Complete Reference for the 396XT and it talks about assigning QKs to systems and sites. So you are telling me that I turn systems on and off by using site QKs? The reference seems to indicate a hierarchy of system/site/group QKs. I will go build a system from scratch and maybe that will clear things up for me.

The system I built from scratch from the RR database works the same way. I will post a question on the 396XT thread on the other forum since I don't have the scanner in hand yet. The docs don't seem to match up with this.

Conventional systems can be controlled by system QKs, trunk systems are controlled through site QKs. You cannnot lock out or turn off a trunked system. But you can turn the individual sites on/off.

OK. Thanks Assaf. That sure makes sorting things by keys a mess huh? That answers another question I had.
