I tried recording as well as logging using freescan 2.10 works ok but seems audio files are missing first few words of the comms? Any tweak to fix this?

I'm not sure that the DMA scanners are set up this way, but I *think* this was the same issue that happened with the older 796 and 785 - there is a small delay in the record out jack, probably to allow for tape units that don't come up to full speed immediately (that's not an issue today, of course).

If that's true, and that is a big IF, there's really not much you can do about it with any software. It's the scanner...Mike

Are you locked onto the channel you wish to record or is it scanning more than one system?

If you are scanning numerous channels/systems it may take the scanner a few seconds to scan back around to the channel you want to record, thereby cutting off the beginning of the transmission.

Try locking on a channel and see if it still does it.

I have had several DMA scanners and use a BCT15X record-out for my feed and I have never noticed any delay whatsoever.

Do you use front audio plug or rear? Isn't rear a set level? I did find the help and how to page on radioreference, maybe I just have too many freq channels in the system. I will try a smaller group and see what happens.
