Freescan Serial Port Connection: Impossible?

Trying to connect BCD396XT to PC to use freescan, but the two refuse to get along. Tried setting baud rates in the scanner, on the PC, and in freescan; no luck. "Test" option in Freescan to try baud rates failed too.

At this point programming by hand is easier.
