I know this keeps coming up from time to time, but does anyone know what frequencies the Freeway Service Patrol uses? I just see a piece about them on tv and the inside of their vans are full of radio gear. In additon, the show stated that they are going to be expanding their fleet in the near future.

Usually, they find stranded motorists on their own simply by driving around. They do have scanners in their vehicles and monitor the NHP talkgroups. I do not think they have any NSRS radios in their vehicles according to someone associated with NHP. They also communicate with dispatch with cellular phones.

I know the service units in the Baton Rouge area (aka MAPS) are tuned to the Baton Rouge Police department dispatch console and
they patrol the interstate system through Baton Rouge and and provide a valueble service

Yes, that sounds logical but remember it's government where logic often goes out the window.
