I figured out how to enter freqs in my new scanner. I have a question about talk groups. If I use Don Starrs software and enter the talkgroups in theright side (1-19). Does it matter where I enter them>i.e. Port Authority ch 3&4 does talkgroup have to be 3&4? Also I got VA Beach Police programmed. How do I get rid of the "Bus Driver", Sanitation workers and Sheriff (jails) chatter? I can care less who didn't separate their trash properly or what prisoner has a visitor. (it's suppose to be "the right side" not left sorry)

(Assuming you are still talking about the Pro93)
It does not matter which order you put the talkgroups in Win93.
Run the scanner in "closed" mode, and you will only hear the talkgroups you have programmed in and don't have locked out.

Scanning 101? Nah, just keep tinkerin' with what you have, and in a while you'll be able to program that 93 in your sleep.

I think I got the trunking stuff down. I programed all the TG's for VA beach. I set the WIN93 to MOT. It worked for a little bit. I didn't hear the sheriff or the bus drivers only PD. Then later on I didn't hear nothing. I went to manuel and changed the channels to FM. Then I heard PD again. Why is that???

Each talk channel is a conventional FM channel. But if the conversation goes to another talk channel you won't track it if you're in FM mode.

Double check to make sure you have all the control channels programmed correctly. If you're receiving it in the "FM" mode, you are not trunk tracking, you are basically scanning in conventional mode and the scanner is not paying attention to the talk groups.

You'll have to change the channels back to "MO", and double check the control channel frequencies. Systems alternate the control channel (usually daily- I think). When this changes and you don't have the active control channel- you won't hear anything on the trunked system.
