Step by step instructions for a bunch of conventional frequencies and one or more trunked systems doesn't seem like a very practical way to accomplish what you want. I would think that a better way might be for someone to compile a datafile which could be emailed to you and uploaded to your scanner.

That assumes that you are using software to program your scanner. If so, what program are you using? I could do it in FreeSCAN or ProScan if you have either of those.

The next step would be for you to specify the particular conventional frequencies and trunked systems from the RR database that you want to program. It would be easiest if you did that by providing the URLs for the specific pages.

hi dick but no one will help me in my area

hi dick, this is david here from australia good to see atleast you answered my post,i also see that you are a licenced ham person .i sat for the basic australia 1 16 times and i failed its called foundation in australia a f call test its not that easy its hard .. but with things like ohms law etc which i dont know why you have to know to use a radio for and talk to people on it, not many people i know of fix radios these days theyd rather send it to radio techs here and pay between $60 and $100 aus per hour for someone else to fix it .anyway about the scanner operations i need a file made up with step by step instructions on how to do it i dont know much except how to manually program a analog scanner i dont know why they make them so hard for to use ,these are a exceptinally hard scanner to program ,thx david nsw australia

Hi David,

I think you may have missed the main point of my prior post. I don't think that a step by step set of instructions is going to be a workable way to get the job done. It seemed to me that the best way would be for someone here to set up a computer datafile for the frequencies that you want and to email it to you. You would then upload it to your scanner. You would also have the benefit of seeing how it's done by looking at that datafile so that you could make changes in the future as needed.

If you can get either FreeSCAN or ProScan talking between your computer and your scanner, I'm willing to try to put a datafile together for you. You'll have to provide me with the information from the RR database as to which systems and channels you want included.

I don't think that there is any way that I could write step by step instructions for you to program your scanner, but think that what I'm proposing instead is workable. Otherwise, I think that you'll need to find someone there that can sit down with you to program it. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised that your two ham friends couldn't figure it out. I guess you need someone that is into scanning rather than or in addition to ham radio.

It's certainly possible that someone here on RR would disagree with my approach and feels that they could write step by step instructions for you and, if that's the case, I'd be happy to see them give it a try.

Dick
