Hi all,

I am planning a trip to Nestor Falls next spring for a fishing trip. I am looking for Freq's or trunking info for that area. Just looking for public safety stuff, FD, EMS, etc..

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm here a lot
Sounds great ! Hope you catch a lot of fish!

The closest places to where you will be is either Fort Francis or Rainy River.

The emergency service freq.'s I have for Fort Francis are

Police
139.860
142.845

Fire
153.800
153.950
154.010

EMS
149.170
149.410
149.440 (paging)
149.605 (Provincial Tactical)
149.800
150.100 (Provincial common)
150.485
151.130

Some other guys in the forum could probably fill you in on the
Ontario Provincial Police freq.'s that would be in use up there.

Not sure of trunking systems up that way,but you never know...
Put your radio on SEARCH and see what you can catch !

I don t know of any trunked systems up that way, and I am through there several times a year. Dryden and Kenora freqs are available in the database.

Peteman,

Have you picked up any digital control channels from the Bell Fleetnet system in the Dryden - Kenora region yet with your pro 96 during your travles?

I was wondering if they have started to test on any of the towers around the area yet, and if you have tried to do a search in the 141 to 144 MHz region?

I was nt aware that bell even had towers up there, whenever I have gone north of the soo to winnipeg i get no cell phone reception from rogers, bell, or fido, I believe the only cell carrier with any kind of tower is Kenora Mobility or something like that. but I am going again in a couple of days to Manitoba for a trade show and i will do another search while i am up there, I also was asked to check for a new trunked system in the Soo so I will be doing that as well. The only public safety freqs I know of north of the soo are the old opp ones with the annoying chirp chirp, and even then only when you are within maybe 20 miles away from a town or whatever.

That would be great if you could . Someone gave me these frequencies that I have stored in one of my v folders maybe you could try them out and see if they will work if you like.

Oh sorry, I thought you were using the Win 96 program to customize your V folder settings for your trips across the country.

No I guess if you felt like adding them into one of the banks on your scanner then you could do manually.

Yeah these are the freqs I have as well, you can only get any action when you are within close range of the tower. I believe the cars have repeaters built in to them. I have heard opp make reference ie: I had the repeater off. That kind of thing.

You'll have to take the 107.2hz pl off of 140.970 and 142.770 if you want to hear something.

Only the cars transmit 107.2hz on 140.970 so you won't hear the comm centres.

On 142.770, nobody is supposed to use pl. The OPP do not use pl and I've yet to find another police service using pl on this frequency.

Sking128. I'm from Fort Frances and although I'm new to this I have found some frequencies. If you need other local frequencies just send me a PM.

OPP
411.3125 (car repeater)
140.9700

Ambulance
149.1700

Weather
162.5500

Have fun fishing! Nestor Falls has some of the biggest Walleyes in the country!

Hi!

Out of the towers listed in the zip file, would someone indicate which ones are for Prescott Russel, Alfred & Ottawa please?

As well, I would appreciate comments on whether it's possible to hear comms on these frequencies using non digital equipment.
