Does anyone have the frequencies for Jeffersonville Police Department? This past Friday they switched over to the SAFE-T system and I am buying a scanner (Radio Shack Pro-96) from Radio Shack to hear them on. If anyone has any suggestions on where I can find these or if you have them and could send them to me I'd appreciate it. I have relatives in law enforcement and would like to hear them. Also, if you have a reccomendation of a better scanner (handheld) to carry let me know.

Thanks,
Chip

But these aren't frequencies, I do not have my astro digital scanner yet so will I just be able to program these in the scanner and get it. I'm just wondering if this is all I need?

No, you need a digital trunking scanner before you can do anything. Once you do that, then you add the frequencies for the Hennryville (Clark Co) Tower from the link I posted above.

As with any trunking system, you can leave it "open" and receive any traffic from any talkgroup. (Those are the talk groups I posted above.) Many people do this occasionally to learn of new radio traffic in their area.

You can also do a "closed" system and only talkgroup IDs you have entered are heard. This is a good way to hear only the specific things you want to hear. For example, you might want the Jeffersonville PD but not INDOT.

The only 2 digital trunking scanners worth considering that are handheld are the RS Pro-96 and Uniden BCD396T.

Please re-read his reply. He told you where to find the frequencies that the Jeffersonville talkgroups will utilize. To quote Kokomo "Check out the Henryville (Clark) listing for the frequencies."

If you open the link he gave you, in the System Frequencies section just below the map of Indiana, scroll down to Site 302, which is Henryville (Clark) and you will see the frequencies listed off to the right, namely "866.42500 866.92500 867.92500* 868.42500* 868.92500". Those are the correct frequencies that Jeffersonville's traffic will be heard on.

It's not really a matter of the two towns having the same frequencies, Henryville is merely where the tower is for Clark County in the SAFE-T network. That gives coverage for any county jurisdiction that joins the SAFE-T network, and of course the ISP and other state agencies in that area. If you scroll down to the talkgroup section under Clark County, you will notice that several jurisdictions within Clark County share those frequencies, but are assigned different talkgroups for their exclusive use. All those talkgroups listed under Clark County, will share the frequencies listed for the Henryville tower.

Not all jurisdictions will join the network due to cost or other issues, and will continue to utilize what they currently have in place for city/county services. But as indicated by the Clark County listing, Jeffersonville, Clarksville, Sellersburg, and Charlestown have all come on board.

Have fun with your Pro-96 when you get it!

Your chance for getting a new Pro-96/2096 at a reduced price is coming up next Sunday.

Starting Sunday August 6, 2006, the PRO-96 & PRO-2096 will again be on sale at Radio Shack for $399 until August 16.

Talkgroups are posted.
Now for Jeffersonville, you will need to program both Henryville Tower and Floyd tower frequencies.
Radio Shack has digital scanner on sale now.

That and adding the talkgroups will get you going. I have been out of town so I have not been listening, and I can only receive Floyd Tower when I am in Clarksville or New Albany, so I don't know how much traffic is on each one. But I do know I am missing replies on Henryville, the conversation starts out on that towers, but then I never hear any replies and figure conversation has affiliated with Floyd tower.

Hi Al. Are you certain that the Clark County services utilze the Floyd site as well? I took it that they were only utilizing the Henryville site. Since I no longer live in Indiana, I have no way of testing that out, but would appreciate clarification on that if you know for certain. Thanks....

Yes, I know for certain. I have heard them on both towers. What I don't know is the percentage of use between each one, I guess Henryville covers North Jeffersonville quite well. Floyd covers down around the river. The Floyd tower is over behind IUS where all the towers are on the hill above I-265.

Okay, you need to put in the control channel for Henryville, make sure it is on trunk setting. Put it is channel 1 slot.

Then in Channel 2 slot, put in 1300MHz. This is a dummy frequency, can be anything that would not have reception on it.

Then in Channel 3, put in Floyd Control channel frequency. Again make sure it is set for MOT trunking.

All you need is those three channels prgammed and
You should not start receiving talk groups. You'll see the number come up and hear talking. Make sure the Channel is set for Motorola trunking.

The best thing I can recommend is get a copy of Win96 Don Starr software, and you'll need a programming cable, but it is a free download and thirty days to try for free. It will help. Also recommend joining Yahoo Pro-96 group.

Two active talkgroups for Jeffersonville is

Here are three p96 files to get you started.
0 Safe-T has Floyd, Henryville, and Seymour
The two Louisville files have trunking and local frequencies for you to try.

I tried, not allowed here, best thing is to join Pro-96 group. Or I can e-mail.

Might be beneficial for him to get WIN96 software to do it with, rather than by hand. You can download it here: http://www.starrsoft.com/software/win96/default.asp

You will need to purchase a key for it. But I believe (though not positive) that you may get a free trial period with it first off to try it out. Though I have programmed scanners by hand for trunking systems, I much prefer using software. You will also need a cable to connect your PRO-96 to your pc (can be gotten at RadioShack I presume).

Thanks Al. I am originally from Salem, and do get back there about once a year. So good to know for when I visit the area.

The two Salem towers should be on-line soon also. They could possibly pick-up a lot of traffic. Seymour gets District 33 traffic now. One is by the dump and the other is out by 56 in the East part of the County.
