Any suggestions on frequencies to monitor during this Mardi Gras. I only have a pro-95, so no digital for me (too bad). just curious to see what people would reccomend monitoring, any suggestions are appreciated!

You can monitor the Analog NOLA FD, all the EMS stuff.... and NOPD may still use the UHF downtown repeaters for some ops. NOPD is Provoice exclusive on the TRS, and all other Law Enforcement except LSP is digital.

On the NOPD 800 system, look for Talkgroup 05-131--I've been hearing a lot of NOPD parade activity (lead units, cops on the parade route, etc.). It's analog, and along with 05-130 (I'm listening to them now--hearing barricades being put out), I've heard a fair amount of Carnival traffic--it's almost as good as listening in the "old days".

Try also 460.025, the last regularly used NOPD UHF simulcast frequency; there you'll hear the 1st district and 8th (French Quarter) district. You can bet that's going to have some juicy monitoring!

The State 800 MHz system should provide some good listening, too, as the State Police is assisting the NOPD for the duration. Whether the standard 656 and 688 TG's apply, I can't say. A talkgroup search this time of year couldn't hurt.

And, don't forget 455.450--this is the freq. used by Metroscan for both their base and all parade progress report cars. I used to do those reports and since the information is taped and played (much) later on various radio stations, you can get much fresher info on where the parade is when you listen herel

Needless to say, without digital you're out of luck with regard to monitoring Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, but for anyone else who might be interested, look for TG's 1008, 1040, 1072, and 1104--Special Event "channels" 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively.

Happy listening and "Throw Me Sumthin' Mistah!"
