Hi All,

I am trying to do a fresh install of DSD+ fast lane. I want to use FMP24 but can't find where the files are.

In another install I have the files but if I go fresh to DSD+ 101, update it to DSD+ FL 2.84 I don't see the FMP24 files. where do they come from?

I have also downloaded the FMPAv2p7 zip file and am wondering does it apply only to the Air Spy dongle or to the RTL also? Is FMPA27 an update to FMP24?

It's so hard to keep track of the changes as I only used DSD+ when if first came out and if you don't stay on top of it it's easy to get lost.

I do have FMP running and feeding VC.bat in one install just trying to start fresh and have done quite a bit of reading.

They're probably in the first FL update you got, which is likely now blocked by Gmail (due to their current no executables or scripts in unencrypted archives policy), unless you actually store your emails and attachments on your PC or phone.

That's Airspy-only stuff.

FMP isn't going to work very well with FL.

Your problem is that FL updates only include changed files, so if you don't install every FL update as you get them, you'll end up with some FL files that are out of date. Normal solution would be to install 1.101 to a fresh folder, then every FL update, from oldest to newest. That's already a pain, but the option won't even be available to you if you need to get any of those old updates from Gmail.

How about emailing the DSD+ folks and seeing if they can send you a single update that can be added to 1.101 that brings you up to date. They already have to be able to do that for any new member, so it shouldn't be a huge deal to do it for you?

fresh install running FMP24

slicer,

OK thanks for the pointer on the install. I do actually have all the files I need, and now have backed up all the zips.

As for FMP/FMP24, I got FMP24 running now. So I think it's safe to say FMP is obsolete right?

It would be nice for a cleaned up install note/read-me. As I extracted each file I renamed the notes, like notes239, notes271... Now I have to review them.

I am thinking now that I have a full fresh install I should copy the contents. This way I can make separate folders for DSD+ for each system. Is that how most people are doing multiple systems, or are they making different file names for various data files in the same folder, changing the bat files? I'm not sure what the authors intended? DSD+ is very small so drive space is not an issue.

It's obsolete unless one doesn't care for the benefits of TCP linking and simulcast support. So yeah, it's obsolete.

Eh? The change log is cumulative. Everything in the older copies is included in the newest, so just retain/read the newest copy.

One of my friends makes separate folders for every system he monitors; he says that's how he assumed things were supposed to be done. Myself, I've always just used a single DSD+ folder, with all known system data entered into the .networks, .sites, .frequencies, .groups and .radios files. The files hold data on 300 networks, 387 sites, 722 system frequencies, 5355 talkgroups and 108693 radios (90524 with aliases); I haven't come across any issues with that amount of data, but on a slow machine that much radio data might be a problem.

In the past, there was no way to run multiple copies of DSD+ in the same folder as they would try to write to the same event log file, but the -F command line option fixed that, so I'm not seeing any reason for multiple folders other than as backups (which everyone should have) or for different DSD+ versions (in case an update breaks something or has some other undesired behaviour)

To monitor specific systems, I just tune CC FMP24 to the control/rest channel of interest and off it goes. That's not practical if you don't remember the CC frequencies; I actually don't, but I can ballpark them and then look for the CCs in the spectrum display, which is also a good way to spot new signals. I think some users create multiple batch files that force FMP24 to tune to the CCs of systems of interest; want to monitor system x, run batch file x, etc. DSD+ really needs easy to use methods of specifying what system to monitor, both something on the command line for automated startup (especially useful for feed providers) as well as a way to pick a new network/site at any time while running DSD+.
