I was wondering if anyone still use's this old receiver and if their receive was a little weak above say 14mz? It does not do too bad above that range but you can tell it is not as sensitive and always has been that way.

Yes I saw the Wiki, being it is so old I was surprised too. I bought this Yaesu new in 1983 and has been used pretty much everyday when I am at my desk. Guess I am really behind the times when it comes to shortwave receivers but it has always served me well.

I have two Frog 7700's here. One is a little more deaf than the other one on 5MHz. Not sure why, only thing I can think of is I squirted some RF into it by mistake once.

One thing I dislike about the 7700 is the lack of frequency resolution, so I built my own frequency counter and fed it from the on board counter's input.

Plus the 1kHz "off" tune also annoys me, but an ugly hack would be to re tune the LO for USB to 455 instead of 456.5

Yes it always was that way, for example to tune in 5.696 usb you had instead tune it to 5.697 usb and LSB works the oposite. I did once a long time ago tweak it to show the correct freq however it degraded the audio quality some what for me so I put it back to the orginal setting.
