From arkansas to detroit??

Hi all,

I am new here and recently retired from the Detroit Police Dept.I was wondering if there is a scanner that I could purchase here in Jonesboro, Arkansas and pick up Detroit Police dispatch on it or am I stuck with only getting them through Broadcastify?

Broadcastify is your only option if you want to hear Detroit in Arkansas.

Well, if you had a really, really, really tall antenna, you might.

On the serious side, if you still know someone in Detroit (hopefully a very technical person), you could get a scanner for them. Then by setting up a virtual private network and certain software (ProScan), you could listen to and control that scanner.

That's theoretical. The person would have to be a good friend because some maintenance (dealing with hiccups) would be on-going.

I use Thin Clients, Proscan, and 996P2's at 3 locations to get better coverage than from my home. They use minimal electricity and bandwidth. If I need to work on them, I can use Teamviewer which I have installed.

I needed to set up the Thin Clients and do some minor network changes on the router at each location.

As of now, I do not monitor them from anywhere but my home.
