Front Panel Replacement

Not to inspire the ire of the Uniden BDC-996T fans out there but I just bought a 996 and am adding it to my mobile setup. I think the silver face looks awful. Does anyone know if there's a way to replace the silver faceplate on the radio? My 785 is black as is all of the other rigs in the car. I know the detachable remote head even has a black face. Can one just buy the front panel to one of the control heads and do a switcheroo? The thought of removing the silver face and painting it black seems a little amateurish.

you can call uniden and order the faceplate for the BCT15 and then hack it out

May seem amateurish but painting would work (if done right could look amazing - gloss black etc).

Could even take it to a professional spray paint or airbrushing place.

Or try the swap to BCT15 face (not the silk print is different - as well as key assignments)
