I installed an YAESU FT-8800 in my new Dodge 08 RAM truck..

The NMO antenna mount was drilled and cable ran down the driver's B-post by the local Motorola shop ($25 cost)..

I found an unused hole through the firewall on the driver side to run my power cables. I simply drilled a hole in the plastic plug and ran my cables. Power is direct connect to battery fused both sides. Powerpole connectors are used.

Radio body is under driver seat. Remote head in OEM bracket secured with double sided foam tape. Microphone extension is a simple 6 conductor telephone cable with double female coupler. Microphone hanger is a "old style radioshack cellphone button holder" adhesive mount.

The viewing angle while driving is acceptable, I programed the hypermemories in a way that I would need to look at the display less.

6,000 miles later, still no problems.

Thanks for viewing it!!

Nice install. Will be doing one in the near future in a different car with the same radio.

How tall is that antenna?

looks good

good install tip to use tho - to never hook up to the battery terminals it can often cause corrosion to your power leads over time

a good spot is where the battery heavy lead runs to the alternator - you can hook the lead right to there and avoid the possible corrosion problems and it also is electrically the same as hooking it to the battery (as far as possible noise problems go)

many state law enforcement vehicles use this style of install to avoid the problems associated with corrosion and the problems created when changing or charging batteries

i try to loom everything i can in the engine compartment - it really helps protect the wiring
