FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: DATE: 05-23-2008 TIME: 10:00 A.M.
On May 22, 2008 at approximately 7:10 P.M., Colorado State Troopers responded to a fatal crash on Highway 287 at milepost 252 in Larimer County. A red 1997 Saab 9 and white 1996 Dodge 2500 were northbound on Highway 287. The Saab attempted to make a u-turn into the southbound lanes when the two vehicles collided.
The restrained driver of the Saab has been identified as Rachel Christen, age 20 of Fort Collins, CO. Christen sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Larimer County Coroner.
The three restrained passengers in the Saab have been identified as:
-Lisa Gutsche, age 21 of Fort Collins sustained moderate injuries.
-William Scott, age 19 of Fort Collins sustained minor injuries.
-Reese Quanstrom, age 19 of Fort Collins sustained moderate injuries.
All three were transported to Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins.
The restrained driver of the Dodge has been identified as Max Arment, age
56 of Bellvue, CO. Arment sustained minor injuries and was transported to Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins.
The crash and subsequent investigation led to a closure of Highway 287 for approximately 2 hours.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as contributing factors.
The crash remains under investigation.
Next of kin have been notified.
