Fort Collins -- Police told 7NEWS a call came in at around 6 a.m., involving a train accident at Prospect and University in Fort Collins.

When officers arrived, they learned a possible pedestrian was involved and was injured. The freight train came to a stop and is blocking several streets between Prospect & Swallow.

FORT COLLINS – Police are working to identify a man run over by a Burlington Northern San Francisco train early Saturday morning.

Fort Collins Police found out about the accident, which happened on the railroad tracks west of Creekside Park, around 6 a.m. Creekside Park is located at 116 Johnson Drive. The train was going north.

The man was taken to Poudre Valley Hospital with what police describe as serious bodily injuries. The man was then transferred to Medical Center of the Rockies.

Man hit by train near Spring Creek Trail, loses legs

A man lying on train tracks near the Spring Creek Trail was hit by a northbound train about 6 a.m., severing both his legs.
