• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Last night I was able to get 409.0125's CC really strong here in Toms River. I programmed it into an empty bank on the PRO 2096, and was getting the decode rate in the 90'% range. I was getting a system ID of B128. A friend of mine gave me the two tables to try, and neither produced results.

B 407.000
O 380
S 12.5

B 407.050
O 380
S 12.5

When I programmed both correctly into the PRO 2096, I was getting TG's, but it was putting the conversation on the totally wrong frequency. For example, if was putting stuff on 406.000 and 413.000 when those frequencies are not part of the 5 channels for the system.

That's not the range area IntelliRepeater site, that's the Ft. Dix FCI system.

Next time we're able to get it, I'll run Trunker on it and see if I can help.

407.050 is the correct base, 12.5 the correct offset. I'm monitoring it right now.
System freqs are: 407.05, 407.325, 409.0125, 409.675, 409.95. System was on low power for several months, it was cranked up to full power about 2 months ago.

What was I doing wrong then. I went into the func + 2 menu mode on the 2096, and inputted the data as you specified.

This is a common problem, one which I think is not covered well (if at all) by the manual; you're not the only one to fall victim to it. There's something more you have to do after inputting the map -- you have to separately tell the Pro-96/2096 to use the map.

1) in manual mode, go to the proper bank
2) PGM
3) TRUNK
4) FUNC+3
5) arrow up or down until you see "Table"
6) ENTER

And you should be good to scan.

For reference, if you ever program an APCO 25 system in via the keypad, you'll have to do the same thing except FUNC+4 instead of FUNC+3.

That was the missing step, thanks! I even had a note written in the back of my manual. Now, I wrote those steps in large letters on the cover of the manual so I don't make this mistake again. The system works good here in TR, but weak at times. When it is weak, I do not receive all the talkgroups.

Thanks for the info. I live on Ft. Dix and work on McGuire and heard the B128 but didn't know what it was. I have been a bit perplexed by the radios up here. DOD PD is running Astro Spectras but at work we run XTL/XTS 5000. I have been monitoring the base on the analog system, 6E05. When my PRO-96 shows up I will input the B128 and see what happens. I even thought about trying to hook up with someone in the LMR shop to find out when they are going straight digital. My last base is already digital and encrypted. DOD wide is supposed to be 9600 baud sometime in '07.

The B128 is to the Federal Prison on Ft. Dix. It is already listed under Burlington County on the RR database. I will see if I can come up with the TG names.
