Got some Talkgroups on the Ft. Meade system that are getting some heavy airplay but I just can't nail em down...

I currently have TG 3248 as MP Special Event. For the life of me I can't remember where I got the information from. So do count that as confirmed, but a place to start.

Heard TG3280 being used this AM for a Troop movement exercise. They were reading off grid coordinates. It must not have been very important though, as there was alot of giggling and a serious lack of military bearing.

TG 3280 is apparently being used by the Army part of DINFOS for training.

A couple of references to "drill sergeants" and the relative inexperience and lack of confidence of the users on the radio were the clues.

The Army Advanced Individual Training unit at DINFOS has the only Drill Sergeants on post that I know of...

TG 2000 has someting to do with the Directorate of information Management, lots of refs to the "DCO" (dial central office in army speak), telephone installs, and computer intstalls... plus a couple of mentions of LMR(land mobile radio)

I guess this place is as good as any for posting this...

Just want to confirm that the gate guards/police at Fort Meade are Wackenhut employees. I remember mentioning this many months ago and someone told me I was wrong. They all have a nice, big patch on their shoulder that says "Wackenhut" so I guess that proves something.

We use Fort Meade's firing ranges from time to time. I was there in August for two day conversion class and yeppers, they are Wackenhut.

I think the conversation was between me and you. Small point: Yes, the gate guards are Wackenhut, however the Police are either Department of the Army Civilian Employees (DA Police), or Soldiers (Military Police). The Wackenhut employees only provide entry control and don't perform "law enforcement" duties.

Yes, you're correct Chuck. I shouldn't have added the "police" designator for the gate/entrance guards.

TG 3248 active today for "Meadefest", with Traffic Control Points using "Liberty" as the main station instead of the usual "Patriot"
