• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Someone tell me about this mobile. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I'm looking at buying one in the 38-50 split. I only have one question, so far. Does this do 2 tone decoding?

Thanks for your time and in advance for any responses!

They have good deals, but I'm already bidding on one. I want information from field users that have used this radio on the pros and cons of it. Thanks though and I'll definitely look into purchasing any future radios from that site.

Call him anyway. He will answer your questions about the FTL series radios. He refurbishes them. You don't have to buy anything from him. He gets and retains customers with superior customer service. And you never know, even if you buy the radio from someone else, you might need him to someday service it. Give him a call. He will not lie to you nor blow smoke up your arse.

I have used FTL series radios since the early 90's. They are excellent radios. We still have several in service. Good luck.

Oh, ok. I got ya now. I took it as you were referring me to him to buy one. I'll do that! Thanks much and I hope this lasts a good while. I'm a big Moto junky, so maybe this will convert me lol. Can you answer whether the FTL 1011 has a UHF(PL259) or a Mini U connector on the back?

Yes the FTL-1011 has 2 tone decode and it uses a UHF connector on the back, no need to worry about a stupid mini-uhf like the moto maxtrax and GTX's use.

FTL1011 Low Band

I have 2 low band 33 MHz & 46 MHz models to work skip & I just ordered 1 high band & 1 UHF band unit for fire service monitoring, they are very good radios for their age & Tom is one of the most accommodating dealers that I know. Tell him Harold sent you & he will probably charge you double. LOLOLOL.
