If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

FTL-7011 not TXing DCS

I am able to read and write to my 7011 just fine but I am running into an issue with a channel I am programming which uses a 5MHz split. Here is the info on that:
TX: 457.575 156N
RX: 462.575 156N
I have thoroughly checked over the information I am programming into the radio and its correct, the repeater is working as I am test it with another radio, I am using the correct antenna, the 7011's power is set to high.
I used my SDR and another radio to determine this:
1. The radio is able to hear the output of the repeater.
2. The radio is not transmitting the 156N tone. This was checked using my SDR which was able to pickup the tone of another radio which was using the same frequency and same tone.
Some other info that may be of use:
I am using DOS to program with vertex standard's own software (version 4.10 of CE5), this is the 12 channel version of the radio.

Is there anyway to fix this?
Thanks

Does your radio have the optional FDS-1 digital coded squelch module installed? With the FTL-x011 series CTCSS is a standard feature, DCS is not.

Also your frequency pairing looks suspect, a GMRS repeater on 462.575 should receive on 467.575 MHz.

The GMRS pair is correct, the radio transmits on 467.575 and receives on 462.575

For the DCS module that is something I was not aware of, is there a way I can check? The software doesn't tell me if it does or doesn't have it. I do have a serial number of the radio however.

Hi, glad to see others are still using these wonderful built like a tank Vertex FTL radios.
Yes, I program mine with a DOS computer, and have the original Vertex Serial Cable box to RJ45 jack programming box. Even the 5.25" (very) floppy and 3.5" (not so) floppy disks.
BTW, if you have the 12 channel model, you can likely program 24 channels, as do I.
Question, I can key-up and chat, but many times when I unkey, the display has a brief change from the channel number to a jumble for 1/2 second and you hear an 'unsquelch', almost like the radio had a brief power loss. Vertex radio sits atop it's power supply, but the antenna is 25' away. Same, low power and high power.
Not a consistent action, just when it feels like it. Anyone else experience this?
Only the 12/24 Channel VHF Hi-Band radio does this, and the 4channel UHF radio does not have this behavior.

You need an FDS-1. A quick search yielded nothing. I was going to suggest an after market module to at least give you 1 code (and you'd have to hard wire it in), but Communication Specialists / Selectone is no more. This is a LONG shot - call Yaesu 714-827-7600 8AM-5PM Pacific. I had to play phone and email tag, but they got me the the parts I needed to repair a couple of pre-split Yaesu-Vertex radios.
