I recently changed my 996 to 396 which stays connected to my computer to email me when my FD is paged. My 396 will not activate with the tones that are programmed. I do have the correct tones (directly from pager and from the company that programs our pager) and I have the correct freq in. I have tried every modulation/configuration possible and still nothing! I did recently do the bcd396t update about a year or so ago, because I didn't realize a 30 second was added. This is the first time I use this scanner for this since the update.

Could be a couple of things, since you have not used the scanner in a while, is it working in the normal scan mode? Is it working in the normal scan mode by your computer, it might be interfering with it. The 996 with the metal case gives a little more shielding than the 396. How many bars are you showing on the 396? I know if I am only getting 1 or 2 it will not trip the tone out.

I entered in tones from another department from another parish and it tripped/recorded.
