Full DB on startup key?

As amusing as it may sound, I have a question for users of the x36 line. I'm experimenting with startup keys for the first time on any scanner, and reading the Easier to Read Manual, I think what I want to do isn't possible, but I'll ask anyway.

When I'm operating normally, I want to have all my FLs and the full DB enabled. When at work, I want to monitor only one system and a couple conventional groups, which I've grouped into one FL. I figured the way to do this was to give that one FL a startup key of its own, let's say '1'. All FLs, including this one, also have '9' as a startup key.

So when I get to work, I power the scanner off and on, using startup key 1, and get the single FL I want. When I leave work, I want to monitor everything again, so I restart the scanner with startup key 9, which opens all the FLs up, but doesn't bring back the full DB.

I'd like to be able to re-enable the full DB with the startup key as well. Is this doable or should I be looking for another option? I thought powering the radio off and starting it again would reset it to "normal" operation prior to starting it up with startup key '1'.

It's not as easy as just holding on the one trunk system, because I have those few conventional channels to monitor as well. Manually turning off all the FLs except the one I want will take a lot of time.

Any suggestions?

Early this morning, I was about to say the same thing. However, I checked it out in Sentinel. I found that the DB, Countries, States/Providences, Nationwide, Statewide, and County Systems categories won't "append" to a FL. It is necessary to open up the Nationwide, Statewide, and County Systems, and then select a sub-category to "append". There may be a manual way to do it with the larger categories, but I have no knowledge of that method.

You can't put the full DB in a FL because it would savagely violate the size limitation for a FL.

Whether or not the full DB is "scanned" is a function of the scanner's settings. Such things are set via the Profile. (It would be nice if a firmware update could allow for multiple profiles to being on a scanner/SD card which could be selected via a startup key).

Startup keys only deal with whether a Favorites List is on or off.

Plus, even if you could create a FL with the full database, that FL is stagnant and is not updated when you do a full database update.

So you are basically doomed to going through the menu to accomplish what you desire. I suppose an alternative could be swapping out SD cards. Card A is set to do the full database and would be your "at work" card, with Card B being database off and not at work. But if I remember, you have a 436 and changing SD cards on that isn't as easy as the 536.

Yeah, from the options thrown around here, I think I'm going to have to just suck it up and manually turn the full DB back on when I leave work. Thanks all.

UPMan, if you're following this thread, being able to assign the full DB to a startup key would be nice for a future update
