• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have a G5 VHF/700/800. I travel a fair amount, and thought it would be fun to take my G5 with me just to listen to the various regional trunked systems.

So instead of spending many hours programming the G5 for each area, or downloading available codeplugs, I simply set up a profile in the P25 Trunking System List (Tab D-2), enter the WACN ID, the System ID, enable “Full Spectrum Scan”, select the appropriate frequency range (sometimes they are both 700 and 800 MHz), then go to Tab D-6 and set up a Trunking Talk Group knob position with a single Talk Group List using a Group ID of 65535 (which monitors everything).

This generally works great, although it may take a couple of minutes to scan thru the frequency range and lock into a control channel, or re-scan as I drive across the region. Of course, I hear every active talkgroup, but for the short time I have to listen, I can hold on any talkgroup.

Here’s the problem…… I can only get it to work on 800 MHz systems, not 700 MHz.

When at the “Full Spectrum Scan – Step size of range” menu, the instructions recommend 12500 Hz, but that doesn’t work (for the 700 MHz systems)

The 700 MHz system I can hear from my home is a mixed Phase 1 and Phase 2, and using Unitrunker, the channeling plan lists 6250 Hz spacing. Changing the step size in PPS to 6250 does not work. Even starting the frequency range of 763.00625 doesn’t help. Have also tried 625 Hz spacing, also with no luck.

For this same 700 MHz system, I have a separate profile built with all the sites/frequencies, and it monitors perfectly.

My method works just fine on 800 MHz systems, and worked on other large 800 MHz systems around the areas I’ve traveled.

Anyone have any insight as to what is wrong? Am I missing something? Or could this be a software/firmware glitch?

Thanks!

After doing some reading tonight on a previous post, it appears that I also need to add the RFSS ID and Site ID in the Site List.

Once I did that, it started working. So much for a simple single entry to scan an entire system. :)
