Does anyone have a reference to all the features that the Function button controls on the PRO-95?

Sure, if I read the whole manual, I'll ultimately know them all, but really. C'mon, how many of you have actually read your manual cover-to-cover?!

Does anyone know if the backlight can be configured to come on when squelch breaks, and then go off when the radio goes back into SCAN mode? Maybe this is a Uniden exclusive?

There are a couple of writeups on how to modify the scanner to light on signal. It involves a bit of cutting and soldering but not to hard.

Currntly have it setup on my PRO92.

As for the handly little guide. Sorry cant help you there.

no, the back light can only be turned on all the time or timed.
This leads me to ask this question.

Will it hurt the scanner to turn the back light on and leave it on during the time that its dark and/or there is not enough lighting near the display?

The reason that I ask is because even when I have a light turned on in my room, I can hardly see the display. I wasn't sure if leaving the back light on would hurt it or if it would burn the back light up.

Does anyone have any idea? Thanks ahead of time.

I think it will be fine, I leave the backlight on on my Pro-95 all night when it's dark and on my Pro-92 24 hours a day. And they both still work fine. I know that the 83 is a Uniden unit and my 2 scanners are GE units.
