So...I'm scanning this morning. It's been a while since I've actually just put my 246T on ID SEARCH. Mostly, it's quiet, but on occasion, I'm picking up SIX DIGIT talk group IDs.

Here's what I've had in the last half hour:

58000 - Gaston PD Records [defunct] (just caught the tail end of traffic on this one)
751770 - Only heard a "10-4" and the time given by a PD dispatcher
742437 - Static
751527 - Static
752703 - Two officers talking about property removed from a person at the jail (I'm assuming WCSO Jail)
742405 - Static
751750 - Static

AND THEN!! Then there were two funky readouts that popped up with my squelch open:
"ID:748811-739739" - Static
"ID:748811-739019" - Static

Is my scanner broken??

58000 is a valid TG. The others look like radio IDs, so they may be I-calls (private, car to car calls). Perhaps they are encrypted, causing "static".

Well, here's an update after doing some listening. I heard normal WCCCA traffic on these as well:

2176 Static
39952 South Cities Dispatch traffic (between dispatcher and unit)
48756 Static
58000 Gaston PD Records (this TG shouldn't be used)
707453 PD Dispatch? - Dispatcher talking to unit (I couldn't tell which agency this was)
711649 Static
711714 Static
729549 Static
733594 Static
742373 HEARS - don't know what hospital they were going to
742405 Static
742437 WCSO Dispatch traffic (heard both unit and dispatcher)
748549 Static
751527 Static
751679 Mic Click
751750 Static
751770 PD Dispatch? Dispatcher talking to unit (I couldn't tell which agency this was)
752703 Jail Conversation
756358 Static

Most of the time, any audible traffic was one side (i.e. if the other party didn't key up right away, you only heard one side of the conversation, and then it was nothing but silence).

Everything was loud and clear, too (even the static...lol).

In the 246T all TGID's that begin with 7 are I-calls. You can lock out individual Icalls or turn off Icall monitor in the TGID list.

That was it. Just turned I-Call off and now it's dead. Turned it back on, and every minute or so, there's another hit...sometimes with intelligible traffic, and sometimes just static.

Apparently, in my last save, something in FreeSCAN tripped that checkbox, and when I uploaded to my scanner...bah.

Sorry guys...thought I was on to to something here.

I forgot that I-Calls started with 7's.

Normal Motorola Talk Groups are in 32 number steps starting with 16 and ending with 65536. I have heard encrypted TGs at 16 number spacing.

These are the Talk Group allocations for the 4 Portland area counties.
16 to 39984 - Portland.
40016 to 49968 - Clark county.
50000 to 65536 - WCCCA & Clackamas county.

Your List:
2176 Static A 16 spaced TG. Others around that number are used by Gresham PD.

The next 3 are normal TGs. It's strange that 39952 & 48756 show up on the WCCCA system.
39952 South Cities Dispatch traffic (between dispatcher and unit)
48756 Static
58000 Gaston PD Records (this TG shouldn't be used) - Why not?

The 7s are radio IDs (Mine is 710019).

Related to that...I've heard Lifeflight use 32144 on WCCCA, when 32144 is actually a valid TG on the BOEC system. They tried calling three or four times (I can't remember if it was to their dispatch or not), but they eventually gave up. But there again...that was once and only once.

58000 Gaston PD Records (this TG shouldn't be used) - Why not?
Gaston hasn't had a city PD in quite some time. The Washington County SO takes care of all law enforcement activities, and should be using their own TGs for traffic. Of course, there's nothing stopping them from using those TGs, but I know I've never heard anything on them in the past. The same applies to Banks City PD TGs.
