I can't seem to pin down what exactly makes this happen.
If you have a hold on a Channel TG that are trunked it will automatically do a site hold. It happens if you have a hold on a conventional channel and then scroll to a trunked system, and I suppose it will do the same if you use a number tag for a trunked TG as that will also do a hold for that TG.

You can only disable that site hold if you also do a hold on the system, or release the TG hold. If I'm not mistaken I think it is done by design and firmware code where added to make this site hold happen for some logic reasons in the user interface.

Good points Ubbe. This is the problem with what little information we have on the feature. I agree it is not safe to assume that it will function like other waterfalls seen in other products or softwares.

That is not correct. I frequently perform Channel/Talkgroup Hold on a system with multiple sites, and it continues to scan the sites.
You'll need to come from a conventional system and scrolling to a trunked one having a hold on a channel that then switch to TG, or by number tags when the scanner are on a conventional system as it then will automatically do the channel/TG hold. It is that boundry switch from conventional to trunked that will make a site hold and only way to get out of it are to first do a system hold and then a site hold to toggle it off.

I just held on a conventional system channel/frequency, scrolled to a talkgroup in one of my trunking systems with a couple sites scanning, and this did not happen. Talkgroup held, sites scanned just to confirm.

Another way to say this is you have no clue, just guessing and putting out bad information. I don't know the OP's method of programming, but I self-program and have never seen this anomaly while performing talkgroup hold.

There are several posts mentioning the anomaly in 436/536/SDS100/200. @JoeBearcat I notice now that it needs one more parameter, the trunked system needs to be in temporary or permanent avoid. If you do a hold on Channel/TG and scroll or do number tag to a trunked system that are in avoid it will force a site hold in that avoided system.

Agreed! Like you, I do have the SDS series and the only time I get site hold is when I invoke it with [FUNC]-[SITE]. I regularly hold on my local PD talkgroup and watch the site alternate between North and South when a transmission is not in progress.

As I said before, you don't really know so might hold off commenting any further until you can confirm this anomaly. Did you ever purchase an SDS scanner yet?

For a majority of us, this is a non-issue since I wouldn't be holding a talkgroup on a trunking system that I avoided since I couldn't hear the traffic on a talkgroup on an avoided trunking system.

I do think you mentioned something of interest somewhere in these forums in regards to the draw a waterfall option would put the scanner's Main or Sub firmware.

That is not correct. A system are only avoided from the scanning cycle. If you manually go to that system, by scrolling to it from another system or go there by number tags, it will work and operate as any other system in the scanner.

Yes, I know that but as I said when I performed this task and held a talkgroup, the site didn't hold so that information is incorrect.

Anyway, back to the waterfall discussion...anything new there?

As my SDS200 is connected 24/7 to my home network I ended up getting a LAN cable with a 90-degree RJ-45 connector on it so I could run the cable under the scanner. Very neat looking...no cable hanging in the way. Sorry to go off topic..........

Mine is exactly the same. Now I need to black out the lights.

It would be great if we could customize the waterfall colors much the same as we can customize the scanning display colors now.

The right angle connectors do make for neat connections. I use the mirco USB port as well as LAN, so I have both right angle connectors going off to the right.

I hope it will be that advanced, it probably can't listen while in spectrum mode as that will need a lot of CPU power,

There will be a view/monitor mode to some extent. As you suggest, monitor in full width will not be possible due to CPU requirements.

As for the rest, that is being worked on. Some of it is already there.

Think it would be better to sell a screen the size of the SDS200 that flips up that hooks into the unit. The little screen on the SDS200 will be hell squinting to see what’s going on.
